Roller door repairs

Roller door repairs on the southern Gold Coast: re-tensioning, drum wheels, bent guides and dented curtains for single and double roller doors.

Open · 8am–9pm

Roller doors are simple and tough, which is why so many Gold Coast homes and sheds have them. They roll a steel curtain around a drum above the opening, with springs inside the drum that balance the weight.

Over time those springs lose tension, guides get knocked out of line, and the curtain picks up dents. We re-tension, re-align and repair single and double roller doors, and replace curtains when a repair isn't enough.

When to call us

  • The door is heavy to lift or won't stay up
  • It drops quickly when you let go
  • The curtain rubs or catches in the guides
  • Dents or creases in the steel curtain
  • Loud rattling as it rolls

How we do it

  1. Check tension and guidesWe test how the door balances and whether the guides are straight and secure.
  2. Re-tension the springsSpring tension is adjusted so the door lifts easily and stays where you leave it.
  3. Repair the hardwareWorn drum wheels, brackets, guides and locks are replaced as needed.
  4. Clean and lubricateGuides are cleaned and the door is run through full cycles.

Near the beach?

Roller door curtains near the beach can show rust along the bottom rail and the edges first. Rinsing the bottom of the door with fresh water helps slow it down.

Roller door repairs questions

My roller door is suddenly heavy. Why?

Usually the spring tension has dropped over time. It can be re-tensioned, which normally makes the door light again.

Can you fix a dented roller door?

Small dents can sometimes be eased out. Creased or badly dented curtains usually need a new curtain or door.

Can you motorise a roller door?

Yes, with a roller door opener, as long as the door is balanced and in good condition.
